Prices vary dependent whether you rent, buy new or reconditioned or if the stairlift is for straight or curved stairs. At Express Stairlifts we pride ourselves on our transparent pricing and if you can answer a few basic questions, we can usually quote accurately over the telephone.
Again, this will depend on a number of things. A basic straight stairlift can be installed in under two hours, a more complicated curved stairlift with a powered folding hinge could take two or three hours longer. The general time-frame is that all installations are completed in a single day.
Absolutely not. Modern stairlifts are secured to your staircase by metal brackets or legs which are screwed to the treads of your staircase. If you staircase is carpeted, once removed, there is little or no evidence of a stairlift ever being installed.
Your stairlift is battery powered and the batteries are connected to a charger that ensures they are always fully charged and ready for use. The charger simply plugs into a standard three pin socket so no complicated electrical work is required.
All of our lift carriages and footplates have safety edges which detect obstructions and stop the lift from moving, thus avoiding clashes, crushes and accidents. There are additional safety micro-switches in seat arms and seat swivels and other general safety circuits and mechanisms to ensure that your ride is smooth and safe at all times.
People may be surprised how little room a lift will need - remember that when not in use, all of our lifts have folding arms, seats and footplates to allow the lift to be stowed away for pedestrian use of the stairs. For some staircases we can offer lifts that travel at forty five degrees to the staircase; but this won't work in every case. A free of charge, no obligation survey will always give you an understanding of what can be achieved.
Straight and modular stairlifts can be installed very quickly, often next day or within two days. For bespoke manufactured curved stairlifts there is obviously a longer lead time which is usually within two to four weeks, dependent on your choice of lift.
On straight or modular curved stairlifts there is no deposit to pay - in fact there is nothing at all to pay until you have tried your installed stairlift and are completely satisfied. If not, we will remove the lift and there is no charge. On bespoke manufactured products, a deposit will be required but our advisers will explain how this works at the point of enquiry.
