Luma Home Lift

The Savaria Luma is a two-stop through-floor home lift that travels between floors through a cut-out in the property. It does not require a lift shaft or supporting wall and is typically used where a compact alternative to a traditional home lift is needed.

It is supplied and installed as a residential access solution for properties requiring step-free movement between two levels.

How it Works

The Luma moves between two floors via a floor opening. The cabin is operated using constant-pressure buttons, meaning the lift only moves while a button is held.

The system uses a winding drum drive and travels on a self-supporting rail structure, so no load-bearing wall is required for installation.

Space Requirements

The system requires a floor opening of approximately:

  • 38" x 47" (956 mm x 1186 mm)

Because it is self-supporting, the lift can be positioned in different areas of a room depending on layout, subject to structural suitability and ceiling height.

Installation

Installation requires a floor cut-out between levels and basic structural preparation to support the lift system.

A site survey is required before installation to confirm suitability, positioning, and any reinforcement needed.

Once preparation work is complete, installation is typically completed in 1–2 days.

Cabin Design

The Luma cabin is fully enclosed with clear acrylic panels and includes:

  • Integrated LED lighting
  • Non-slip floor surface
  • Handrail inside cabin
  • Ventilation fan
  • Low threshold entry

The design allows visibility through the lift while maintaining a fully enclosed travel space.

Safety Features

The system includes built-in safety systems:

  • Door interlocks preventing movement unless the door is closed
  • Obstruction sensors that stop the lift if blocked
  • Emergency stop button inside cabin
  • Overspeed protection system
  • Battery backup for limited operation during power failure
  • Emergency communication system (where specified)

Operation

The lift is controlled using constant-pressure buttons inside the cabin. It stops automatically at each landing and requires manual button input throughout travel.

Remote call/send controls may also be included depending on specification.

Capacity & Performance

  • Maximum load: 180 kg (400 lbs)
  • Two-floor travel only
  • Winding drum drive system
  • Battery-powered operation with charging at landings
  • Low-speed controlled travel

Optional Features

Depending on specification, the system may include:

  • Remote monitoring alerts
  • Emergency call system (SIM-based)
  • Lift status display inside cabin
  • Remote call/send controls
  • Dual entry configuration (through-cabin access)

Suitability

The Luma is typically used in homes where:

  • access is required between two floors only
  • a lift shaft cannot be installed
  • space is limited
  • a compact enclosed lift is preferred over an open platform system

A site survey is required to confirm suitability.
