Artira Inclined Platform Lift
The Artira inclined platform lift provides safe, reliable wheelchair access on straight and curved staircases — including those with turns, landings, and multiple levels. Unlike standard inclined platform lifts, each Artira is custom-measured and built to follow the exact line of the staircase, making it suitable for narrow, steep, or complex stair layouts where other access solutions may not be practical.
The platform travels along a guide rail fitted to the staircase or adjacent wall, with the ultra-quiet drive system housed discreetly at the upper end of the installation. When not in use, the platform, access ramp, and safety arms fold neatly away to keep the staircase clear for other users.
Suitable for a wide range of settings including private homes, schools, churches, restaurants, hotels, and heritage buildings, the Artira can also be specified for outdoor installations where required. A range of colours and finishes are available, making it straightforward to choose an option that complements the existing décor.
Designed around your staircase
The Artira is built to suit the individual staircase rather than requiring a standard layout. Its guide rail follows the shape of the stairs, allowing the platform to travel smoothly around corners, turns, and landings. As it approaches bends and landings, the system automatically reduces its travel speed for a smoother, more comfortable experience.
This makes the Artira a practical solution for buildings where a straight-staircase lift or vertical lift isn't suitable — particularly in older properties, listed buildings, or spaces with unusual or complex stair configurations.
Simple, practical operation
The Artira uses a computer-based control system that illuminates the correct button at each stage, guiding the user through the operating sequence intuitively. Fold and unfold functions are fully automated, operated simply by pressing the call station buttons. Platform controls consist of two large, illuminated directional buttons and an emergency stop, designed to be easy to use for people with limited dexterity.
For staircases without an adjacent wall, support towers can be provided to mount the rail system directly to the stair treads instead.
Safety features included as standard:
- Obstruction sensors automatically stop the lift if anything is detected in the path of travel
- Bi-directional and leading ramp sensors detect obstacles at all entry and exit points
- Curved safety arms fold automatically into the guarded position during travel
- Pedestrian safety lights alert others to the platform's movement
- Emergency stop button, clearly visible on the platform control panel
- Emergency manual folding and lowering in the event of a fault
- Overspeed safety system controls platform speed throughout travel
- Smooth start and stop technology with automatic speed reduction approaching corners and landings
The Artira has a maximum capacity of 300kg and is covered by our 2-year warranty as standard.
Available options
The Artira can be configured to suit different users and installations, with options including:
- Folding seat for ambulant users
- Attendant remote control
- Side-loading platform for confined lower landings
- Battery backup for continued operation during a power outage
- Automatic platform folding after inactivity, keeping the staircase clear without user action
- Fire alarm integration, interrupting power to the lift when the alarm sounds to keep the staircase clear during evacuation

Installation
Every Artira installation is individually measured and planned around the staircase. The guide rail is fitted to the staircase or adjacent wall with minimal structural alterations required in most buildings. Installation is typically completed within three to four days depending on the complexity of the staircase.
We carry out a free survey beforehand to assess the staircase, confirm suitability, and plan the installation in full.
